Ronnie Lowe Memorial Scholarship

Ronnie Lowe Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in April 2020 through gifts made by family, friends, alumni and colleagues in memory of Ronald (Ronnie) Lowe, Wake Tech instructor, department head, and senior professor. Ronnie arrived at Wake Tech in September of 1991 to start the college’s Heavy Equipment and Transport Technology program after 13 years working in the industry. Ten of those years for the R. W. Moore Equipment Company in various positions [a Technician in Garner, a Service Manager in Fayetteville and a Service Manager in Garner] and three years as owner/operator of Lowe’s Landscaping and Clearing Company. Ronnie was passionate about technical training and education that prepared students for meaningful and productive work. He had high expectations for his students both in the classroom and on the job. The success of his graduates and the HEATT program are a testament to his commitment to training highly skilled graduates with a strong work ethic and a sense of being a part of something bigger than themselves. He was a colleague, mentor, friend and leader. This scholarship will support students pursuing training and education in the college’s John Deere Agricultural Technology and Construction Equipment & Forestry Technology programs as well as the Heavy Equipment Operators program within the HEATT department. Ronnie was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. Not only was he passionate about his career in the diesel industry but also about fishing and hunting. He would remind you to find balance in your life as you move forward and although you will be dirty and tired at the end of the day, you will know a personal satisfaction others will never understand.
